Linux Support

Linux support · Wellington and NZ wide

Linux is where Precedent stands apart. Our engineers have spent years running Linux in demanding environments, from single servers to large fleets, and we bring that experience to businesses of every size.

Whether you run a few Linux servers, host your own applications, or rely on open-source software, we can look after it properly and help you get more out of it.

The service

What we support

  • Servers: Installation, configuration and ongoing administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Debian and Ubuntu, including patching, monitoring and in-place upgrades between major versions.
  • Automation: Configuration management with tools such as Puppet and Ansible, so your servers are consistent, documented and quick to rebuild.
  • Containers: Docker and Kubernetes environments, container registries, and moving applications into containers where it makes sense.
  • Open-source environments: Web and application servers, databases, mail and mailing list services, network monitoring, and self-hosted collaboration tools.
  • Security and hardening: Access control, SSH and firewall configuration, and keeping systems patched and on supported versions.
  • Legacy systems: Moving older Linux servers and applications onto supported platforms without disrupting the business.
  • High availability: Clustering, load balancing and automatic failover for systems that can’t go down, from websites and applications to mail, DNS and RADIUS servers.
  • Virtualisation: Proxmox and KVM hosts and clusters with Ceph or ZFS storage, including migration from VMware.

Linux support is available on its own or as part of a managed service, tailored to the systems you run. See it in practice in our case studies.
